Netanyahu to Join Trump’s Peace Council

Published January 21, 2026, 09:36

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted an invitation to join President Donald Trump’s “Peace Council,” which aims to resolve conflicts. The council will consist of global leaders and will focus on promoting stability, restoring governance, and ensuring lasting peace in areas affected by conflict. Participation in the council requires payment of up to $1 billion for a permanent seat. Netanyahu has strongly opposed the inclusion of Turkey and other countries in the council, as relations with them have recently deteriorated. Simultaneously, a committee of Palestinian technocrats has been established to oversee the administration of Gaza.
