New Data Shows Most Adults in Cyprus Unaware of Shingles Risk

New research conducted in Cyprus reveals low public awareness regarding shingles and its likelihood of occurrence. Only 19% of adults know that 1 in 3 people will develop the condition during their lifetime, while 14% believe it is common in people like themselves. Despite 60% having heard of shingles, only 14% plan to discuss their personal risk with their doctor. The research highlights the need for greater awareness, as the risk of developing shingles increases after age 50 and is further enhanced after age 60. Shingles vaccination is recommended under the National Vaccination Program through the GESY and is provided free of charge to individuals over 60 and those at increased risk.
