Turkish Farmers Violate Buffer Zone in Alona – UN Peacekeepers Withdraw

New violations of the buffer zone have been reported in the Alona area by two Turkish farmers cultivating land near UN Post 38. According to Alona Community Leader Menelaos Savva, the farmers are gradually clearing land and are now planting permanent crops, such as citrus fruits. Mr. Savva reported that UNFICYP forces visited the site after being informed, but withdrew around 1:00 PM, allowing the Turkish farmers to continue their work. Furthermore, the Community Leader himself was checked by UN forces and escorted out of the buffer zone.
