China Deploys AI-Powered 'RoboCops' to Patrol Streets and Direct Traffic

China is testing AI-powered robot police officers in public spaces, such as streets, to improve patrol and traffic regulation. The robots, Intelligent Police Unit R001 models, can identify violations, issue warnings, and monitor traffic in real-time. This deployment is part of a broader Chinese strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into various sectors, with the 'embodied intelligence' market expected to reach €49.2 billion by 2030 and €123 billion by 2035. The use of robots in policing has already begun in cities like Chengdu and Hangzhou, with various models being deployed to support the work of human officers.
