Cyprus Parliament to Investigate Social Support Agency Amidst Corruption Allegations

The Cyprus Parliament is preparing to thoroughly investigate the recent corruption allegations surrounding the Independent Social Support Agency (AFKS). Meetings of the Institutions and Control Committees will be held to uncover any political and criminal liabilities and examine the agency's operations. The focus of the investigation is on the donations received by the agency, the transparency of its procedures, and the potential for serving interests. The President of AFKS, Philippa Karsera, has already announced her resignation, leaving 1,800 student applications pending. The Presidency and the Auditor General maintain that no irregularities have been found, while the public disclosure of donor names for amounts exceeding €20,000 is being proposed.
