Outrage: Unimaginable Pollution Found in a Cyprus Forest – "We are 22 years old and ashamed on your behalf!"

Citizens visiting the Agios Antonios forest in Sotira, Famagusta, have expressed outrage and disappointment over the extensive pollution and abandonment in the area. The forest, which should be a recreational space and a connection to nature, resembled a landfill, filled with various waste materials such as flower pots, tires, bottles, and even ammunition in prohibited areas. Hazardous items like gas canisters, construction materials, and copper-stripped wires were also found among the garbage. The young visitors, aged 22, collected as much trash as they could, simultaneously expressing their sadness and frustration over the disregard some show for the environment. They emphasized their responsibility to protect nature for future generations and accused the polluters of destroying a "small miracle". In their post, the young people call for a change in mindset and respect for the environment, expressing their shame at the behavior of some fellow citizens. They also suggest the use of biodegradable pellets by those involved in airsoft, to reduce environmental impact. The situation in the Agios Antonios forest highlights a serious problem of indifference and lack of environmental awareness, while emphasizing the need for increased control and stricter penalties for those who pollute the natural environment.
