Cyprus's Continued Humanitarian Role

Cyprus continues to play a humanitarian role, particularly in the Gaza crisis, through the Amalthea Plan. On May 16th, a shipment of 900 tons of humanitarian aid reached Gaza, including medical equipment, neonatal incubators, shelter equipment, and food. Due to its good relations with all parties, Cyprus acts as a bridge between the European Union and the region. The Amalthea Plan is implemented in cooperation with international organizations such as the UN, the United Arab Emirates, and France, utilizing the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Cyprus emphasizes humanitarian aid and strives to play a constructive role in addressing the crisis. The need for humanitarian aid is great, as the residents of Gaza face dire conditions due to the war. Cyprus, by maintaining contacts with all key players, can contribute to providing assistance to those in need. This aid is critical for the survival of people affected by the war. Cyprus has a long tradition of humanitarian action and strives not to be involved in conflicts, but to offer assistance to those who need it. The Amalthea Plan is a specific expression of this commitment.
