Over 420,000 Citizens Enlisted in the Russian Army in 2025

Over 420,000 Russian citizens signed contracts with the Russian armed forces in 2025, according to Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council. In addition, 32,000 people signed contracts for voluntary service. Medvedev stated that the goal set by President Vladimir Putin has been achieved. These figures are part of a broader effort to strengthen the Russian army, including the new branch of unmanned aerial vehicles. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, approximately 400,000 new contract soldiers had joined the Russian armed forces in 2024. Medvedev had then reported that the number amounted to 450,000 contractors and 40,000 volunteers.
