Five Flu Deaths in Cyprus Over the Weekend, Total Reaches 12

Five additional deaths from influenza have been recorded in Cyprus over the weekend, bringing the total number of deaths to 12. Dr. Elisavet Konstantinou, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health, confirmed the new cases, which occurred at Nicosia General Hospital. Dr. Konstantinou explained that the deaths are due to influenza type A, however the exact cause of death will be determined after the data is analyzed in the software system of the World Health Organization. This system provides the final diagnosis for the cause of death. The increase in flu deaths is causing concern among health authorities, who are urging the public to take preventive measures, such as vaccination and adherence to hygiene rules, to limit the spread of the virus.
