Erhurman Responds to Reports of New Property Claims Lawsuits in Greek Cypriot Press - 'They Will Achieve Nothing by Targeting Individuals'

Tufan Erhurman, the Turkish Cypriot leader, referred to a report in the Greek Cypriot press regarding new lawsuits for “property rights.” He emphasized that a solution cannot be achieved by harming peace, through threats, or military agreements, and that the Turkish Cypriot people will not relinquish their rights to equality, sovereignty, and security. Erhurman stressed that the will for a solution will be judged both by the negotiations and by actions outside of them. He recalled Israel's recognition of Somaliland, as a response to agreements between Cyprus, Greece, and Israel. He reiterated that the Turkish Cypriot people also have legal means and international strategies to protect their rights. He emphasized the people's desire for a solution that guarantees equality, sovereignty, and security, and warned that no one can force the Turkish Cypriot people into an unfair solution.
