Paphos EOA Remains Vigilant for Potential Weather Extremes

The Paphos Provincial Self-Governing Authority (EOA) remains on constant alert to deal with extreme weather events, taking into account warnings from the Meteorological Service. EOA President Charalambos Pittokopitis stated that the services and crews are continuously monitoring data and are ready to take all necessary measures to minimize the consequences of potential floods. The EOA has already carried out inspections and cleaning of grates, manholes, ditches, and natural rainwater recipients in critical areas of the Municipality of Paphos and the Municipality of Yeroskipou. At the same time, it calls on citizens to ensure that the manholes and grates outside their homes are not blocked and that the gutters are functioning normally. Mr. Pittokopitis advises citizens to limit their movements and avoid staying in basements in the event of heavy rainfall, especially if their area has a history of flooding problems. The EOA places particular emphasis on prevention, strengthening infrastructure, and protecting citizens. Through close cooperation with all relevant authorities, the EOA contributes to ensuring smooth conditions for dealing with the effects of heavy and prolonged rainfall during the winter period.
