POED to Continue Fight for Improvement of Teacher Evaluation Legislation

Published January 14, 2026, 18:20

POED expressed its disappointment with the unilateral submission of the teacher evaluation bill to Parliament by the Ministry of Education, as well as its passage by the DISY, DIKO, DIPA parties and independent MPs. The organization accuses the Ministry of Education of an uncompromising stance on key positions that were not scientifically substantiated, and believes that the legislation did not bridge the differences but widened them. Furthermore, it denounces an orchestrated effort to discredit the trade union movement and teachers, with an increase in unsubstantiated allegations and disparaging behavior. POED states that it will continue its fight to improve the legislation and for the good of public education.
