POED Continues Fight for Improvement of Teacher Evaluation Legislation

POED announced that it will continue its fight to improve the legislation concerning teacher evaluation, expressing its disappointment with the Ministry of Education's unilateral submission of the bill to Parliament. The organization accuses the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (MOESC) of not taking into account its substantiated positions and of being inflexible on key issues. POED also expresses its disappointment with the parties that voted for the bill, believing that it contains ambiguities, gaps and contradictions. The organization argues that the new legislation not only fails to bridge the differences between the MOESC and POED but also widens them. POED denounces a “coordinated effort” to defame the trade union movement and undermine the dignity of teachers, resulting in an increase in unsubstantiated allegations and disparaging behavior. It believes that the legislation will not improve learning outcomes but will create additional problems in the education system.
