Mechanism for Project Management to be Proposed, Auditor General Tells Parliament

Auditor General Andreas Antonides informed the House Control Committee about the completion of a study regarding the establishment of a project management mechanism. The study will be consulted with the Ministries of Finance and Transport, as well as the Deputy Ministry of Research and Innovation. The discussion focused on the Auditor General's report on the procurement of protection systems for critical infrastructure against unmanned aerial vehicles, an effort that has faced failures over the past 10 years. Issues were highlighted in the project's planning and monitoring, as well as the lack of a maintenance contract. The Auditor General also mentioned the certification of 45 professional procurement officers, with the Police expected to participate in the next training cycle in 2026. Finally, it was announced that the unsuccessful bidder has been registered in the register of excluded public procurement contractors.
