President of Cyprus: Escalation in Relations Harms All Parties

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, stated from Brussels that escalation in international relations is detrimental to all parties involved, including the European Union and the United States. He emphasized the importance of de-escalation and the need to respect sovereignty and territorial integrity, specifically referencing the case of Denmark. The President noted that the Cypriot Presidency seeks to strengthen the EU's autonomy in areas such as defense, energy, and competitiveness. He expressed his belief that the discussion on Ukraine's security will take place within the framework of the European Council. He underscored that EU-US relations have not suffered irreparable damage and that efforts should focus on de-escalation.
