How the European Public Prosecutor's Office Will Handle the Feidias Case

The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) is investigating European funds related to an official of an EU institution, however, according to sources, assistance from national prosecutors is not requested as the EPPO operates autonomously. The Attorney General is not informed about EPPO investigations unless it is determined that the case does not fall under its jurisdiction. In cases where the EPPO has jurisdiction, Cypriot delegated prosecutors, acting under the direction of the EPPO, give instructions to police authorities as the Attorney General would. The EPPO's operating regulations provide for informing local prosecution authorities at the start of the investigation and if the case does not fall under its jurisdiction.
