“War” Between Two Factions for Nightlife Control: Raids and Arrests in Larnaca - Video Incriminates 22-Year-Old SYOP Suspect in Attempted Murder

The Larnaca Police conducted two large-scale investigations, resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals involved in organized crime. The investigations concern two rival groups vying for control of nightlife, business protection, and drug trafficking. Among those arrested are two businessmen, aged 47 and 43, known to authorities, who are accused of attempting to interfere with a police investigation. The two businessmen were arrested at their company offices and at home, respectively. During the arrest of the 47-year-old, a large sum of money and bank checks were found, leading to an investigation into the crime of illegal possession of property. Both deny the charges. In addition, three individuals were arrested for working illegally as security guards at the 47-year-old's business, and a vehicle with test plates was confiscated. According to testimonies, the suspects had met at a hotel in Oroklini with the owner of a business from which money had been demanded for protection. The complainant confirmed in a statement that he had met with the two businessmen, who allegedly assured him that they had no involvement in the incident. The case is under investigation and is expected to reveal more details about the “war” between the two factions in Larnaca.
