Mossad's Increased Activity in Iran Amid Protests

Mossad appears to be operating more openly in Iran, a departure from its previous practice of working 'in the shadows'. While Israel seeks to avoid direct involvement in the protest crisis, Mossad has increased its activity, as demonstrated during the 12-day war with Israel in 2025, where it allegedly inflicted significant damage on Iran's nuclear and military programs. The head of Mossad, David Barnea, stated that the agency would continue to operate in Tehran. Recently, a Twitter account attributed to Mossad called on Iranians to protest against the regime, and reports suggest foreign support for opposition groups. Despite denials, Mossad is believed to use 'fronts' for covert operations, such as in the case of the 2020 explosions at Natanz.
