Russia: 'Armed Aggression' by US in Venezuela – Demands Explanations for Maduro's Fate

Russia strongly condemns the US military intervention in Venezuela, describing it as an 'act of armed aggression' and a blatant violation of international law. Moscow rejects US arguments, such as combating drug trafficking, describing them as 'unfounded and pretextual'. Russia expresses particular concern about the arrest and transfer of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, demanding immediate explanations for their fate. It believes that this action violates Venezuela's sovereignty. Moscow argues that the US intervention is the culmination of a 'neo-colonial political model', aimed at controlling the natural resources of Latin America. The Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia, Konstantin Kosachev, stressed that the operation lacks any legal basis. Russia supports Venezuela's request for an urgent convening of the UN Security Council, with the aim of ending the intervention. The Russian embassy in Caracas remains operational and assures that no Russian citizens were injured. Russia reaffirms its support for the people and leadership of Venezuela.
