Russian Embassy: "Deep Personal Tragedy" Over Employee's Death – Drowning Confirmed – Details Released

The Russian embassy in Cyprus announced the death of an employee, A.V. Panov, describing it as a "deep personal tragedy." The autopsy revealed that the death was due to drowning. Authorities are expected to begin procedures for repatriating the body to Moscow. The case began when Panov was found dead in his office last Thursday. Police were informed with a delay and were initially not allowed to enter the embassy. According to the embassy, the death was a suicide and Panov left a letter, which, however, was not handed over to the Cypriot authorities but will be sent to Moscow.
