Development in Free Famagusta Remains Stalled

Development in the free province of Famagusta remains stalled, according to the President of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Kyriakos Chatzigiannis. The issue was discussed in the Committee, regarding the promotion of tourism development on the coastal front of Sotira and Liopetri. The Local Plan of Ayia Napa, Paralimni and Deryneia is in a phase of examining objections, while the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettou, emphasized the need for equal treatment of the province, given that 85% of it is under occupation. The issue of ecological assessment and the protected species of the blue rock thrush was also raised, with the Municipality having prepared a special study on the matter.
