Ramadan Sobhi Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Egyptian footballer Ramadan Sobhi has been sentenced to one year in prison by a Giza Criminal Court for academic fraud. According to local media reports, Sobhi was arrested in July following allegations of forging official documents and having someone else take his exams at a private tourism and hospitality institute in Giza. In addition to the prison sentence, Sobhi is also facing a four-year ban from playing football due to anti-doping rule violations, as previously confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Sobhi has 37 caps for the Egyptian national team and has played in England and Egypt, most notably contributing to Pyramids' victory in the African Champions League.
