4.6 Magnitude Earthquake West of Crete

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 was recorded at 03:50 this morning in the sea area west of Crete. According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 91 kilometers west-southwest of Antikythera, or 303 kilometers south-southwest of Athens, at a depth of about 8 kilometers. The earthquake was described as “weak” and no immediate damage or injuries were reported. However, authorities are monitoring the area for potential aftershocks.
