Stefanos Stefanou: A Strong AKEL in Parliament Means Support for Society

The General Secretary of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, emphasized that a strong AKEL in the new Parliament will mean support for society. He criticized President Christodoulides' statement about wanting a center-right majority in the new Parliament, characterizing it as interference in the elections and including the far-right in that majority. Mr. Stefanou argued that the President is seeking such a Parliament to promote policies that widen inequalities and support the interests of banks and large corporations. In contrast, AKEL is fighting to protect workers and address poverty and social inequalities. The General Secretary of AKEL called on citizens to vote for his party, in order to ensure support for society and address social problems. He stressed that the economy is growing, but wealth is not distributed fairly in society.
