Steady Growth in Cyprus Economic Index

The Composite Leading Economic Index (CLEI) of Cyprus recorded an annual increase of 2.0% in December 2025, according to the Centre for Economic Research (CER) of the University of Cyprus. This increase is similar to that of previous months, as the index had increased by 1.9% in both November and October. The stability of the CLEI's growth rate suggests that the Cypriot economy maintains a steady development path, despite international challenges. The positive contribution of most individual indicators strengthens this picture. Specifically, positive rates were recorded in real estate sales documents, electricity production (adjusted for temperature), tourism, and retail trade. In contrast, the price of Brent crude oil decreased, while the Economic Climate Index (ECI) in the Eurozone increased. In Cyprus, the ECI showed a deterioration compared to December of the previous year, due to the worsening of the business climate in the services sector. However, the overall picture remains positive, with the CLEI confirming the resilience of the Cypriot economy.
