Cyprus Passport Ranks 14th Globally in 2026 Henley Index

The Cypriot passport maintains its 14th position worldwide in the 2026 Henley Passport Index, reaffirming its consistent strength. Holders of a Cypriot passport enjoy visa-free access to 174 countries and destinations. Cyprus has achieved its best ranking with 12th place in 2012 and 2024, while its lowest was 18th place in 2010-2011. The Henley Index evaluates 199 passports based on access to 227 travel destinations and serves as a benchmark for government policies and geopolitical analysis. In a world of increasing geopolitical tensions, freedom of movement is becoming an ever-greater privilege, linked to political stability and international prestige. Cyprus's position in the index indicates a high level of access, although it lags behind the strongest European passports. Singapore tops the index with access to 192 destinations without a visa, followed by Japan and South Korea. A group of five European countries (Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland) and Greece also rank highly. The United Arab Emirates has recorded the largest increase in the index's 20-year history, while the United Kingdom has experienced the largest decline. Cyprus's position confirms that the Cypriot passport remains a powerful tool for international mobility.
