AEK Continue Pursuit of Midfielder

Despite a convincing 4-0 victory over Panathinaikos, AEK remains committed to strengthening its midfield with a quality player. The administration, led by Javier Ribalta, is working diligently to finalize the transfer before the close of the winter transfer window on February 6th. AEK's targets are limited to two or three players, and the focus is on negotiations to make the transfer happen. Marcos Nikolits has specified the characteristics of the desired player: defensive ability and the capacity to build play from midfield, safely distributing the ball forward. Beyond the midfield reinforcement, AEK does not appear to have immediate plans for other transfers. The initial idea of acquiring a young Greek player has been shelved, at least for the current transfer period, due to mandatory participation of under-23 players in the Cup, which is no longer a requirement following the team's elimination. According to the latest information, the acquisition of Giannis Apostolakis from OFI or Panagiotis Tsantilas from Atromitos is not expected. However, AEK is considering potential departures of players such as Frantzdy Pierre or Jens Jonson if satisfactory offers arise. The administration remains open to any opportunities that may emerge before the end of the transfer window.
