Pension Reform, Energy and Water Issues Dominate Presidential Meetings in Cyprus

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, held a series of meetings at the Presidential Palace focusing on pension reform, energy plans, and the water issue. The pension meeting discussed the adequacy, sustainability, and timeline of the reform. Regarding water, the President was briefed on the situation due to prolonged drought and the actions being taken for desalination, water recycling, and demand management. Concerning energy, discussions centered on the progress of the terminal in Vasiliko, reducing energy costs, and exploiting natural gas reserves. Furthermore, views were exchanged on the upcoming visit of Ministers to the United Arab Emirates for cooperation on energy and water projects.
