Cyprus 2026 Election Poll: A Shifting Political Landscape

Published January 23, 2026, 10:28

A new poll by RAI Consultants, presented on Alpha Cyprus, predicts a seven-party parliament in 2026 and a significant realignment of the political map. According to Associate Professor Yannos Katsouridis, there is a shift in votes from the major parties (DISY, AKEL, DIKO) to newer formations such as 'Alma' and 'Direct Democracy', while ELAM is stabilizing in third place. The poll highlights problems in the center ground and a general fluidity in the political scene. Furthermore, the research demonstrates a phenomenon of 'realignment' among voters, who are more willing to vote for protest parties. Voter turnout, which had been increasing in previous elections, appears to have stabilized. The percentage of votes gathered by parties without extrapolation is worryingly low, below 40%. According to the results, the Democratic Rally (DISY) leads with a slight margin over AKEL. ELAM, 'Alma', and 'Direct Democracy' follow, with small differences between them. DIKO is in sixth place, while Volt appears to have a chance of entering parliament. Finally, the poll emphasizes the growing role of social media in informing and influencing voters' political choices, with Facebook being the most popular platform for following political developments.
