Chinese Nationals Arrested for 'SMS Blaster' Bank Fraud

Police have arrested two Chinese nationals, aged 31 and 29, on charges of fraud using the 'SMS blaster' method. This method involves exploiting older mobile phone technologies to send mass SMS messages appearing to be from banks or courier companies, with the aim of stealing banking details. The perpetrators used a car equipped with specialized equipment that mimics mobile phone towers. Cases of stolen banking details and subsequent purchases have already been identified. Police estimate that the perpetrators' activity is much larger and the investigation is ongoing.
