The Documentary 'When the Swallows Fall Silent' Travels to Los Angeles

The feature-length documentary 'When the Swallows Fall Silent' (60', 2025) has been officially selected for the competitive section LAGFF DOC 2026 of the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, one of the most important international film festivals. The screening will take place on January 31, 2026, at the Broccoli Theater in Los Angeles. The documentary captures the struggle of the people of Old Nicosia to preserve their identity and memory in a rapidly changing city, focusing on the Faneromeni School and the historic restaurant 'Matthaios'. Participation in LAGFF DOC 2026 is an important step for the documentary. The documentary has already premiered globally at the 2025 Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival and was screened at the Panorama of Contemporary Greek and Cypriot Cinema in Paris, as well as in cinemas in Paris, London, Stockholm, Athens and Nicosia. The documentary is a production of Walking Around The World and was supported by the Deputy Ministry of Culture. The contributors include Konstantinos Patsalidis (director), Giorgos Avraam (script & production) and Christos Koukoufias (director of photography).
