Syka Case: Complainant Withdraws Allegation, Supreme Court Decision Pending

MP Nikos Sykas reappeared before the Supreme Court regarding the Legal Service's request to lift his parliamentary immunity following an allegation of assault against his partner. The complainant has withdrawn the allegation, citing stress and inability to testify. Mr. Sykas' lawyer, Christos Pourgourides, stated he would not object to the lifting of immunity but expressed doubts about whether a case could be built without testimony, given that the events allegedly occurred in Greece with only the complainant present. The Assistant Attorney General maintained his position in favor of lifting the immunity. The Supreme Court has reserved its decision for 1:30 PM.
