Pheidippas Panagiotou: When will the ballot 'close'? Will he be a candidate? - Elections for the presidency of Direct Democracy

MEP Pheidippas Panagiotou is considering running as a parliamentary candidate in the upcoming elections with the Direct Democracy party. According to information, he will announce his decision soon, along with his intentions regarding whether he will remain in the European Parliament or relinquish his position if elected to Parliament. Mr. Panagiotou plans to hold “internal” elections through the Direct Democracy application platform, with the participation of approximately 20,000 members, to select the parliamentary candidates. Around 200 people have already expressed interest, from whom 56 candidates will be selected depending on the positions in each province. At the same time, elections will be held to elect the president of Direct Democracy, with Mr. Panagiotou stating that he will compete for the position on equal terms with all other candidates. Only those selected for a position on the ballot will be eligible to run. The application for the registration of “Direct Democracy” as a party is pending before the Ministry of Interior. Some suggestions have been made regarding the party’s statutes, and an official response to the registration of “Direct Democracy” in the register of political parties is expected soon. In addition, a competition is underway to select the party’s emblem.
