€12 Million Funding for Affordable Housing Project in Strovolos

The Ministry of Interior and the Cyprus Land Development Organization (CLDO) have signed an agreement for an additional €12 million in funding to the CLDO. This funding will be used to construct 54 two-bedroom apartments in the Municipality of Strovolos, which will be allocated to eligible beneficiaries of affordable housing programs. The project is part of the state's comprehensive housing policy, focusing on increasing the housing stock and providing affordable housing, especially for low and middle-income households. The Christodoulides government has reactivated the CLDO, assigning it a key role in implementing the state's housing plans. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to financially strengthen the organization to implement its development plans and address the housing problem. A project for affordable housing in the Agios Nikolaos area of Limassol is currently under construction with a state contribution of €16 million. Furthermore, the construction of 181 affordable units has begun, and the commencement of another 258 units is planned for 2025. This agreement represents a significant step towards increasing the availability of affordable housing in Cyprus, responding to the needs of citizens facing difficulties in finding suitable accommodation.
