110,000 Vaccinated Against Seasonal Flu in Cyprus

The response from citizens regarding vaccination against seasonal flu is satisfactory, with approximately 110,000 people already vaccinated, and 75% of vulnerable groups having received the vaccine. This was stated by the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health, Elissavet Konstantinou, during the visit of the Minister of Health to the Limassol Hospital. In contrast, vaccination against COVID-19 remains low, with only 3,800 vaccinations, a similar number to last year. Ms. Konstantinou encouraged citizens to get vaccinated against the flu through their personal doctors and against COVID-19 at the Ministry of Health's Vaccination Centers. She emphasized the importance of protection against both diseases, especially during the winter season. At the same time, hospital admissions to public and private hospitals have doubled in recent days, while admissions to Intensive Care Units remain at expected levels. The Ministry of Health notes that the epidemic wave is on the rise, as happens every year during this period. The government continues to closely monitor the epidemiological situation and take the necessary measures to protect public health. Emphasis is placed on prevention through vaccination and early treatment of cases.
