Allegation: Bishop Transferred Funds from Association to Personal Accounts

A woman has filed a complaint with the Limassol Police Directorate alleging the misappropriation of funds from the Pan-Cypriot Parents' Association (PPA). According to the complaint, Bishop Christoforos Tsiakkas of Karpasia is accused of transferring the association's funds to his personal bank accounts between 2020 and 2021. The complainant claims that the Bishop, as President of the association, illegally amended the articles of association in 2019, so that in the event of the association's dissolution, the assets would not be returned to a specific Monastery, but to other individuals. Furthermore, he is alleged to have transferred all the association's funds to his personal accounts, violating the original articles of association which stipulated the return of assets to the Monastery in the event of dissolution. According to the complaint, the funds were transferred through the accounts of two other individuals. The Bishop is also alleged to have refused to provide the Registrar of Associations with the bank account related to a trust agreement and to have concealed the accounting books. The complainant, a member of the association since 2004 and Secretary of the Board of Directors until its dissolution, claims that this move was made through manipulation of the Board members. She states that she exploited her trust and was led into illegal actions. The Monastery mentioned in the 1994 articles of association had never received assets from the association and was unaware of the existence of the specific articles. The Police have confirmed the filing of the complaint.
