Blow to Bishop Christophoros Ahead of Paphos Throne Race – Issue Reaches Holy Synod

Bishop of Karpasia Christophoros is facing a challenging situation ahead of the election for the new Metropolitan of Paphos, as he is accused of transferring funds belonging to the Pan-Cypriot Parents' Association (PPEG) to his personal accounts. These accusations, regardless of their validity, are considered to be damaging to his prospects for the Paphos throne. The case has reached the Holy Synod, which is called upon to address the issue, while Bishop Christophoros himself has made himself available to the investigating authorities. Church circles note that the timing of the accusation is suspicious, linked to the upcoming election. Some hierarchs even suggest that the Bishop withdraw from the race to protect the reputation of the Church. The Holy Synod is expected to examine the matter at its next session, despite the fact that it is not on the agenda.
