An event was held to twin the five Prastia of Cyprus, in Prastio Avdimou, with the aim of preserving their cultural heritage and strengthening cooperation between the communities. The mayors of the five Prastia signed a memorandum of cooperation, committing to contribute to the resolution of the Cyprus issue and the reunification of Cyprus, in accordance with UN resolutions and the principles of the European Union. The communities were presented at the event and photos from the villages were shown, while the mayors were given plaques with a map of Cyprus and the five Prastia marked. The event received wide media coverage. The presence of 12 Turkish Cypriots from the Prastia of Kelokedaron and Avdimou was particularly significant, who expressed their hope for a better future in their common homeland. Representatives of the Turkish Cypriots referred to their experiences from their villages. The event referred to the consequences of the events of 1963-1974 for four of the five Prastia, with the Greek Cypriot residents of the Prastia of Famagusta and Morphou becoming refugees and the Turkish Cypriot residents of Prastio Kelokedaron being displaced in 1964. The Director-General of the Ministry of Interior, Ellikos Ilias, was the keynote speaker and emphasized the importance of the name "Prastio" as a link between people and traditions.
