Cold Snap Incoming: Bad Weather with Intense and Prolonged Phenomena Expected in Cyprus

The Meteorological Service is warning of bad weather expected to affect Cyprus from Tuesday evening, with intense and prolonged phenomena. From Tuesday afternoon, wind fields will be strengthened, with moderate to strong winds that will become temporarily very strong in coastal areas. Local rains and thunderstorms are expected, which will spread across the territory on Wednesday. The deterioration of the weather is expected to be significant, with the possibility of water accumulation in thunderstorms, hail, and snow on the highest peaks of Troodos. Authorities are urging citizens to be prepared for the severe weather phenomena. The weather forecast predicts a weak low-pressure system to affect the area, with mainly clear weather on Tuesday afternoon. The winds will blow from the northwest to north, weak to moderate, while they will strengthen in the evening. The temperature will rise to 14 degrees Celsius inland and around 16 degrees Celsius on the coast. On Wednesday, the weather will be cloudy with local rains and isolated thunderstorms, while snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos. New Year's Day will be partly cloudy with the possibility of isolated rains in the west, while Friday is expected to be mainly clear. The temperature is not expected to change significantly.
