Continued Rain and Storms: Frost and Heavy Snow in the Mountains - Affected Roads

Due to ongoing rains and storms, several roads in Cyprus are experiencing issues. Mountainous and semi-mountainous areas face a risk of slipperiness due to frost, while specific roads are open only to four-wheel-drive vehicles or those with anti-slip chains. Additionally, roads with landslides and ongoing works affecting traffic are reported. The Police advise drivers to be extremely cautious and adhere to traffic regulations. The weather forecast predicts a low-pressure system and relatively cold air mass influencing the region. Cloud cover, local rains, and isolated thunderstorms are expected, particularly in the west, north, and mountainous areas. Heavy snowfall is anticipated in the higher mountains. Winds will be strong, and the sea will be wavy to very wavy. Temperatures will range around 12 degrees Celsius inland, 15 on the coast, and 2 in the mountains, where frost and fog will prevail. Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy with possible rains in the west and north and intermittent snowfall in the mountains. The temperature will drop to 4 degrees Celsius inland, 8 on the west and north coasts, 6 on the south and east coasts, and -4 in the mountains. Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be clear with occasional clouds. On Friday, the weather will be intermittently cloudy with possible rains in the mountains and sleet or snow on the highest peaks.
