Controversial Video: Charalambous and Chrysostomos to be Questioned

The Presidential Office and businessman Giorgos Chrysostomos will be called to testify regarding the controversial video showing conversations with investors. The government insists there is nothing reprehensible and that it concerns a usual practice of approaching investors, characterizing the incident as Russian hybrid warfare. However, AKEL believes the video reveals funding mechanisms outside the legal framework and practices of serving business interests, even circumventing European sanctions, while also mentioning the past case of the President's wife's fund. AKEL accuses the government of trying to shift the discussion from the content of the video to its origin, while insisting it will continue to push for a full investigation of the case inside and outside Parliament. The case has predictably drawn comments from the parties, who are calling for transparency in the investment attraction process and a review of potential overruns of the legal funding limit for the election campaign.
