Cyprus Foreign Ministry Warns Citizens Against Travel to Iran

Published January 9, 2026, 09:32

The Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory, effective since August 2024, recommending that Cypriot citizens avoid all travel to Iran. This advice comes in response to recent protests and challenges to authority in Iran, with large gatherings reported on major roads in Tehran. The Ministry advises Cypriots already in the country to remain vigilant, closely monitor developments, and take maximum security precautions. They are also encouraged to register on the Connect2CY platform to facilitate communication in case of emergency. Cypriot citizens can contact the Cypriot Embassy in Tehran or the relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus for any assistance.
