Cyprus-India: PwC and High Commission Event on the Role of AI in Innovation and Development

PwC Cyprus and the High Commission of India in Cyprus co-organized an event on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in innovation and development, as part of the Cyprus–India AI Impact Pre-Summit initiative. The event, titled “Driving Innovation and Growth,” brought together over 100 representatives from the business and academic communities. The event discussed the practical applications of AI in various sectors, the prospects for Cyprus-India bilateral cooperation, and the need for responsible and ethical use of technology. PwC Cyprus CEO Philippos Sosoilos emphasized that AI is a transformative force for sustainable development and enhancing human capabilities. The High Commissioner of India to Nicosia, Manish, highlighted the transformative role of AI in the global economy and presented how India is leveraging the technology for innovation, productivity, and strengthening governance. He also called on institutions, businesses, and startups in Cyprus to participate in joint initiatives related to AI. Dimitris Skourides, Chief Scientist of Research, Innovation and Technology of the Republic of Cyprus, presented the “AI First” strategy for Cyprus’ economic development, emphasizing the use of AI solutions to enhance the productivity and efficiency of businesses. The event included two thematic panels, one for businesses and one for academic collaborations, where the opportunities and challenges of integrating AI were discussed.
