December Rainfall in Cyprus at 116% of Normal

Rainfall in December in the free areas of Cyprus reached 116% of normal, according to preliminary data from the Department of Meteorology. The average total rainfall was 122.8 millimeters, compared to 105.6 millimeters, which is the normal for the month. However, the total rainfall from October 1st, the start of the hydrological year, to January 1st was 159.2 millimeters, which corresponds to 83% of the normal rainfall for this period (191.6 millimeters). The largest amount of rainfall was recorded at the Polis Chrysochous station (219.2 millimeters), in the Stavros tis Psokas area (249.3 millimeters), at the Athalasas station in Nicosia (83.3 millimeters) and in Athienou (88.1 millimeters). For January, from the 1st of the month to 8:00 am on Friday, the average total rainfall was only 0.1 millimeters.
