Denmark to Bolster Military Presence in Greenland Amid US Concerns

Denmark will strengthen its military presence in Greenland, responding to US criticism regarding the island's defense. Danish Defense Minister, Lood Paulesen, announced that the country is in dialogue with NATO allies for more exercises and increased presence in the Arctic. Simultaneously, the Foreign Ministers of Denmark and Greenland met at the White House to de-escalate the crisis stemming from US President Donald Trump's desire to bring Greenland under American control. Denmark and Greenland firmly reject the possibility of a change in sovereignty, while Trump insists on the US need to control the island to limit the expansion of Russia and China in the Arctic. The White House meeting is expected to focus on clarifying misunderstandings, however, the outcome remains uncertain.
