Disagreement over Energy Storage Park in Alambra

The "Committee for the Struggle against the Creation of Energy Storage Parks in Alambra" expresses strong disagreement with the approval of an Energy Storage Park (ESP) in the area. The committee claims that the permits were issued without consultation with residents and that the project, consisting of 24 large containers, poses significant risks to the area and the community. It highlights the potential for degradation of the area and the negative impact on the quality of life of residents. The committee warns of increased interest from entrepreneurs for similar investments due to the proximity to the EAC Substation and calls for their prevention. At the same time, it recalls that the area had been proposed for the allocation of a new Technical School, a promise of the President of the Republic. At a recent gathering in Alambra, representatives of parties (DISY, AKEL, DIKO, DIPA), the Mayor of Idalion, the Deputy Mayor of Alambra, a Member of Parliament and the President of the Federation of Environmental Organizations of Cyprus, expressed their strong opposition to the project and called for an organized struggle to cancel the permits. The committee is composed of citizens and representatives of organizations, including Athos Agapiou, Elena Adamou, Marios Aristodimou, Giorgos Michail, Pantelitsa Michail, Andreas Nikolaou, Petros Pasias, Giorgos Penintaex and Popi Tsiopani, and is committed to continuing its struggle to protect the area.
