A 58-year-old driver was arrested in Lamia for driving under the influence of alcohol after being involved in a series of collisions with parked cars. The incident occurred shortly after 10 PM on Wednesday, when the Immediate Action Center was alerted to dangerous driving by a black BMW. Before being apprehended, the driver hit at least five cars on Makropoulou, Patroklou, and Venizelou streets, leaving the scene of each accident. Police officers from the DI.AS team managed to immobilize the car at the intersection of Venizelou and Constantinople streets, where the driver abandoned it. A subsequent search led to the arrest of the 58-year-old. A breathalyzer test conducted by the Lamia Traffic Police Department revealed that the driver was heavily intoxicated. As a result, the 58-year-old will spend New Year's Eve in police custody, as charges have been filed against him. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if any other vehicles were damaged by the drunk driver. The case will be examined by the Public Prosecutor at the Lamia Courts.
