Dry River Flows Again in Natta, Offering a Glimmer of Hope

Published January 1, 2026, 11:17

The Dry River in the Natta area has begun to flow again, albeit at a reduced rate, offering a small glimmer of hope for replenishing water reserves, particularly crucial for the Asprokremmos Dam. The Asprokremmos Dam, the second largest in Cyprus, is in a critical state, with its capacity below 10%. Since the beginning of the hydrological year, the inflow into the dam has been very limited, just 260,000 cubic meters, and forecasts for the next 24 hours are not expected to significantly change this situation. The resumption of the Dry River's flow, although small, serves as a reminder of the importance of every drop of water in a year with serious water management issues in Cyprus. The information was recorded on the last day of 2025 and comes from KYPE.
