Eight Arrests and 250 Citations Issued on Saturday Night

The Cyprus Police conducted extensive proactive operations throughout Saturday night, aiming to prevent criminal activities and protect citizens. During the operations, eight individuals were arrested for various offenses, primarily driving under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving. Specifically, four people were arrested in Nicosia for driving under the influence, while two in Limassol were arrested for dangerous driving and assaulting a police officer. Another two drivers were arrested by members of the Traffic Police for similar offenses. In addition, checks were carried out on premises and on the road network, resulting in more than 250 traffic citations. The violations mainly concerned driving under the influence of alcohol and exceeding the speed limit. 18 cars, one motorcycle, and one electric bicycle were also impounded. These operations are part of a broader, ongoing preventive plan of the Police, with increased presence and targeted checks in all provinces, in order to enhance the sense of security of citizens.
