European Parliament Paves Way for Common Medicine Market - Cyprus MEPs Active in Key Debates

The European Parliament has taken a significant step towards a common medicine market within the EU, with a proposal enabling collective price negotiations for countries wishing to purchase medicines together. The initiative, to which Cypriot MEP Michalis Hadjipantelas contributed decisively, aims to reduce the cost of medicines and prevent shortages. Furthermore, the European Parliament is launching an investigation into the situation of students in Rizokarpaso, following a proposal by Lucas Fourlas, to document the problems they face and promote solutions. Meanwhile, Giorgos Georgiou supported the referral of the Mercosur agreement to the European Court of Justice due to a lack of democratic legitimacy and insufficient dialogue with agricultural organizations. Cypriot MEPs also actively participated in other important discussions, such as reducing tuition fees for European students in London.
